Fly With Me ~ Slow, Methodic, and Foundational
I had been wanting to make Fly With Me by Zen Chic for quite awhile, but I knew this would be a project that would require the right circumstances ... the pattern is so beautiful I absolutely wanted to do it justice, with the right fabric, with the right mindset. Well, after planning this for a long time ... it's finally time!
There are several ways to make this project, but I wanted to do this project with Foundation Paper Piecing, a technique that I consider almost magical. I learned it early on in my quilting days, and the original way I learned it is still the way I prefer today ... it really is very slow, but it is so engrossing and the results are gorgeous.
This summer is turning out to be incredibly busy, and I have taken on a new pursuit (not sewing or quilting related) that is taking up about 80% of my time and 110% of my mental bandwidth, so I just don't want to have to think much about sewing, I just want to execute. And Foundation Paper Piecing is just perfect for that.
I'm not even close to being finished, but just looking at these beautiful blocks, I already know this quilt is going to end up as one of my favorites!
